Albon Sidelined From São Paulo GP After Intense Qualifying Accident
British-Thai driver Alex Albon will miss Sunday's São Paulo Grand Prix after suffering a heavy crash during qualifying on Saturday.
The Williams driver sustained a significant concussion and is currently under observation in hospital.
Albon lost control of his car at Turn 4, a high-speed right-hander, and crashed into the barriers. The impact was so severe that it split his car in half.
Medical staff rushed to his aid and extracted him from the wreckage. He was then airlifted to a local hospital, where he underwent a CT scan.
The FIA, Formula One's governing body, has confirmed that Albon has suffered a concussion and will not be able to race on Sunday.
Williams has yet to announce who will replace Albon in the car for the São Paulo GP.
The accident is a major blow to Albon's season. He has been in good form in recent races, scoring points in three of the last four grands prix.
Albon's absence will also be a blow to Williams. The team is currently fighting for eighth place in the constructors' championship, and Albon's points have been crucial in their bid to finish ahead of Alfa Romeo.
We wish Albon a speedy recovery and hope to see him back in action soon.
