Anfield Atmosphere
Arne Slot was full of praise for the Anfield atmosphere after his Feyenoord side were beaten 2-0 by Liverpool in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie on Wednesday night.
"The atmosphere was incredible," said Slot. "It's one of the best stadiums in the world and the fans were amazing. It was a great experience for our players."
Halftime Adjustments
Slot made two halftime substitutions, bringing on Alireza Jahanbakhsh and Mats Wieffer for Quilindschy Hartman and Javairô Dilrosun. The changes helped Feyenoord improve their performance in the second half, but they were unable to find a way back into the game.
"We made some adjustments at halftime and I think we played better in the second half," said Slot. "We created some chances, but we couldn't score. Liverpool are a very good team and they deserved to win."
Gomez Praise
Slot also praised Liverpool defender Joe Gomez, who was making his first start of the season.
"Gomez was very good tonight," said Slot. "He's a very good defender and he was very difficult to play against. He's a big talent and I'm sure he has a bright future."
