Bayern Munich Soar Past Union Berlin With Kane's Double
Bayern Munich extended their lead at the top of the Bundesliga standings with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Union Berlin on Saturday. Harry Kane was the star of the show, scoring twice in the first half to put Bayern in control. Robert Lewandowski added a third late on to seal the win.
Bayern started brightly and took the lead after just 12 minutes. Kane was played in behind the Union Berlin defense and made no mistake with a clinical finish. The England striker doubled his tally 20 minutes later, heading home from a corner.
Union Berlin offered little in response and Bayern were comfortable throughout. Lewandowski added a third goal in the 89th minute to put the icing on the cake.
The win sees Bayern move six points clear of Borussia Dortmund at the top of the table. Union Berlin remain in eighth place.
Dortmund Triumph Over Leipzig In Bundesliga Clash
Borussia Dortmund kept their title hopes alive with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over RB Leipzig on Saturday. Erling Haaland scored both goals for Dortmund, while Christopher Nkunku pulled one back for Leipzig.
Dortmund started the game well and took the lead after just 10 minutes. Haaland was played in behind the Leipzig defense and slotted home. The Norwegian striker doubled his tally just before half-time, heading home from a corner.
Leipzig improved in the second half and pulled a goal back through Nkunku, but they could not find an equalizer. Dortmund held on for the win to move within three points of Bayern Munich at the top of the table.
Leipzig remain in fourth place, but their title hopes are now all but over.
