## Bengals' Response To Jermaine Burton's Inactivity: "No More Hand-Holding."
Burrow and Taylor Believe it's Time for Tough Love
The Cincinnati Bengals' wide receiver corps has been a source of frustration for the team this season, and the coaches have decided to take a different approach with one of their young players. Rookie Jermaine Burton has been inactive for the past two games, and head coach Zac Taylor said that the team is "done hand-holding" with him.
"We're not going to hold his hand anymore," Taylor said. "He's got to figure it out. We're going to give him every opportunity to succeed, but he's got to take advantage of it."
Burton was a highly touted recruit coming out of high school, and he was expected to be a contributor for the Bengals this season. However, he has struggled to adjust to the NFL game, and he has just seven catches for 75 yards in seven games.
Quarterback Joe Burrow said that he believes Burton has the potential to be a good player, but he needs to start showing it on the field.
"He's got a lot of talent," Burrow said. "But he's got to start producing. We're not going to wait for him anymore."
Wide receiver Tylor Boyd agreed with Burrow, saying that Burton needs to step up his game.
"He's a young guy," Boyd said. "But he's got to start playing like a veteran. We're not going to baby him anymore."
Burton has been given the opportunity to start the past two games, but he has not produced. He had just one catch for 11 yards in the Bengals' loss to the Cleveland Browns, and he was held without a catch in the Bengals' win over the Atlanta Falcons.
The Bengals are now 5-2 on the season, but they have struggled to score points at times. The team is hoping that Burton can step up and provide a spark for the offense.
However, if Burton continues to struggle, the Bengals may have no choice but to move on.
