Canucks Reassign Forward Nils Aman to American Hockey League Affiliate
Prospect Returns to Abbotsford After NHL Debut
The Vancouver Canucks have reassigned forward Nils Aman to their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Abbotsford Canucks. Aman, 21, made his NHL debut with Vancouver on February 15th, 2023, against the Colorado Avalanche. He played in two games with the Canucks, averaging 10:14 of ice time per game.
Aman was selected by the Canucks in the fourth round (114th overall) of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. He spent the 2021-2022 season with the Swedish Hockey League's HV71, where he recorded 10 goals and 16 assists in 48 games.
This season, Aman has been playing with the Abbotsford Canucks, where he has recorded 20 goals and 26 assists in 54 games. He is currently tied for third in scoring on the team and is second among AHL rookies in points per game (0.85).
The Canucks' decision to reassign Aman to Abbotsford is likely due to the team's recent acquisition of forward Anthony Beauvillier from the New York Islanders. Beauvillier is expected to make his Canucks debut on Tuesday against the Chicago Blackhawks, which could push Aman down the depth chart.
Aman will likely have an opportunity to return to the Canucks later this season. The team has been hit by injuries, and Aman could be recalled if another forward goes down.
For now, Aman will continue to develop his game in the AHL. He is a skilled offensive player with good speed and playmaking ability. If he can continue to produce at a high level in Abbotsford, he could be in line for a more permanent role with the Canucks next season.
