Colts' Alec Pierce Limited To Single Reception In Loss
Wide receiver Alec Pierce of the Indianapolis Colts was limited to just one reception in the team's 20-17 loss to the Washington Commanders on Saturday. Pierce, who was targeted three times, finished the game with seven yards receiving.
Struggles Continue
Pierce's struggles continued in Week 17, as he has now failed to reach 50 receiving yards in any of his last five games. The rookie wideout has been a disappointment for the Colts this season, failing to live up to the expectations set for him as the team's first-round pick.
Lack of Opportunities
Pierce's lack of production can be partly attributed to the lack of opportunities he has been given. Quarterback Nick Foles has preferred to target Michael Pittman Jr. and Parris Campbell more often, leaving Pierce with limited chances to make an impact.
Playoffs Hopes Dwindle
The Colts' loss to the Commanders significantly damages their playoff hopes. The team now needs to win their final game of the season against the Houston Texans and hope for a loss by the Jacksonville Jaguars to have any chance of making the postseason.
