Explosive Offense: Dart Sets Ole Miss Records With A Historic Performance
Dart's Record-Breaking Night
Luke Dart put on a historic performance for Ole Miss against Central Arkansas, setting multiple records in the process. The freshman quarterback threw for an astounding 453 yards and five touchdowns, while also rushing for another score.
Dart's passing total was the second-highest in school history, behind only Eli Manning's 541-yard performance in 2002. His five touchdown passes also tied him with Manning for the most in a single game by an Ole Miss quarterback.
The Rebels' offense was unstoppable all night, as they rolled up 603 yards of total offense. Dart connected with seven different receivers, including Jonathan Mingo who had seven catches for 125 yards and two touchdowns.
Offensive Line Dominates
Ole Miss's offensive line played a major role in the team's success against Central Arkansas. The Rebels rushed for 150 yards on 37 attempts, averaging 4.1 yards per carry.
The offensive line also did a great job of protecting Dart, allowing him to be sacked just one time.
Rebels Extend Record to 2-0
With the win, Ole Miss improves to 2-0 on the season. The Rebels will now travel to face Georgia Southern next Saturday.
Head coach Lane Kiffin was very pleased with his team's performance against Central Arkansas.
"I thought we played really well offensively tonight," Kiffin said. "Luke Dart played great. Our offensive line did a great job of protecting him and opening up holes for our running backs. We're very happy with the way we played tonight."
