F1 Sao Paulo Sprint: Norris Triumphs As McLaren Swaps Positions
In a thrilling F1 Sao Paulo Sprint, McLaren's Lando Norris took a surprise victory ahead of Mercedes' George Russell. However, the main talking point was Red Bull's Max Verstappen being relegated to fourth place after a penalty.
Norris Triumphs
Norris started the sprint in second place but quickly overtook Russell at the start. He then held off the Mercedes driver throughout the race, despite intense pressure. Norris' victory is his second in Formula 1 and McLaren's first since 2021.
McLaren Swaps Positions
Norris' win was made even sweeter by teammate Daniel Ricciardo finishing third. The Australian started the sprint in sixth but made a great start and overtook several cars to secure a podium finish. Ricciardo's performance was a welcome boost for McLaren, who have struggled for form in recent races.
Verstappen Fourth After Penalty
Verstappen started the sprint in pole position but was penalized for failing to slow down for yellow flags. The penalty dropped him to fourth place, behind Russell and Ricciardo. Verstappen will start Sunday's Grand Prix from fourth place, which will give him a lot of work to do to try and win the race.
