Green Line Subway Service Resumes in Montreal
After a nearly two-month closure, the Green Line subway service in Montreal has resumed. The line, which runs from Angrignon to Honoré-Beaugrand, had been shut down since July 10th for major track work.
What Was the Track Work?
The track work on the Green Line was necessary to replace aging rails and ties. The work also included upgrades to the signaling system and the installation of new drainage systems.
Why Was the Line Closed?
The Green Line was closed to allow crews to work on the tracks around the clock. This would not have been possible if the line had remained open.
How Will the New Track Work Improve the Green Line?
The new track work will improve the Green Line in several ways. The new rails and ties will make for a smoother ride. The upgrades to the signaling system will improve the accuracy and reliability of the trains. And the new drainage systems will help to prevent flooding on the tracks.
What Are the Next Steps for the Green Line?
The Green Line is now fully open and running normally. The next steps for the line include the completion of work on the new Anjou station and the development of plans for the extension of the line to the West Island.
