In a thrilling encounter at the Estadio Hidalgo, Pachuca forward Rogelio Funes Mori emerged as the star of the show, scoring a hat-trick to power his team to a dominant 6-2 victory over Club Necaxa.
A First-Half Explosion
The match roared into life from the opening whistle as both teams exchanged blows. However, it was Pachuca who struck first in the 15th minute. Mauricio Isais found space on the right flank and unleashed a pinpoint cross that Funes Mori met with a clinical header.
Necaxa refused to be discouraged and equalized just three minutes later. Juan Delgado's incisive pass found Brian Garcia, who rounded the goalkeeper and calmly slotted home.
The goals kept coming, and in the 25th minute, Funes Mori restored Pachuca's lead with a superb individual effort. He dribbled past two Necaxa defenders before firing a low shot into the bottom corner.
Before the break, Erick Aguirre extended Pachuca's advantage with a stunning free-kick that flew into the top corner of the net.
Second-Half Dominance
After the interval, Necaxa showed signs of a resurgence and pulled one back through Carlos Gonzalez in the 55th minute. But any hopes of a comeback were quickly extinguished as Funes Mori completed his hat-trick with a powerful header from a corner kick.
In the final minutes of the match, Jorge Hernandez added a sixth for Pachuca, capitalizing on Necaxa's poor defending.
Funes Mori Shines
Rogelio Funes Mori was undoubtedly the standout performer on the night. His hat-trick was his first in Liga MX and brought his tally for the season to an impressive 10 goals.
The Argentine forward's clinical finishing, superb movement, and aerial prowess proved too much for the Necaxa defense to handle. He was a constant threat throughout the match and played a pivotal role in Pachuca's emphatic victory.
