John Mulaney Hosts 'SNL' And Surprises With Kid Shout-Out Amid Pete Davidson Cameo
Comedian Returns To Studio 8H For Fifth Time, Reunites With 'King Of Staten Island' Star
John Mulaney returned to Studio 8H for his fifth time as host of Saturday Night Live, with a hilarious monologue and a surprise shout-out to his son during a sketch with Pete Davidson.
Mulaney opened the show with a self-deprecating monologue about his divorce and recent rehab stint, joking that he was "going through a lot of changes" but was "very happy to be here."
"I've been through a lot in the past year, but I'm doing great. I've got a new special coming out on Netflix in December called From Scratch," he said. "It's about my life, and it's very funny. I promise."
During his hosting duties, Mulaney also reunited with his friend and former co-star, Pete Davidson. The pair appeared in a sketch together about two dads who are trying to bond with their teenage sons.
During the sketch, Davidson's character makes a surprise appearance at Mulaney's house, and the two dads end up having a heart-to-heart about their kids.
"I know you're going through a lot right now," Davidson says to Mulaney. "But you're a great dad, and your son loves you."
Mulaney's character then makes a surprise shout-out to his own son, Malcolm.
"I love you, Malcolm," he says. "You're the best thing that's ever happened to me."
The sketch was a sweet and funny moment, and it was clear that Mulaney and Davidson have a real rapport.
