Marlies' Historic Streak Ends With 4-2 Loss To Monsters
A historic win streak has come to an end.
The Toronto Marlies saw their 12-game win streak snapped on Saturday night with a 4-2 loss to the Cleveland Monsters at Coca-Cola Coliseum.
The Marlies, who are now 19-10-0-1 on the season, had not lost a game since Nov. 29.
Tale of Two Periods
The first period was all Marlies. They outshot the Monsters 13-7 and took a 2-0 lead on goals from Alex Steeves and Joey Anderson.
But the second period was a different story. The Monsters came out flying and scored three goals in the first 10 minutes to take a 3-2 lead.
The Marlies had a chance to tie the game late in the third period, but could not convert on a power play.
The Monsters added an empty-net goal with 1:03 remaining to seal the win.
Road Trip Ahead
The Marlies will now hit the road for a three-game road trip. They will face the Rochester Americans on Tuesday, the Belleville Senators on Wednesday, and the Laval Rocket on Saturday.
The Marlies will be looking to get back on track and start a new win streak.
