Nicholas Latifi's Formula 1 Future Discussed By Team Principal

Nicholas Latifi's future in Formula 1 is in doubt after the Canadian driver endured a difficult 2022 season with Williams.

The 27-year-old scored just two points all year and was outperformed by teammate Alex Albon, who managed to finish in the top 10 on three occasions.

With Williams set to field a new driver line-up next year, Latifi's future looks uncertain.

Team Principal Questions Latifi's Commitment

Williams team principal Jost Capito has questioned Latifi's commitment to the team, saying that he needs to see more from the Canadian driver.

"We need to see a clear improvement from Nicholas," Capito said. "We need to see that he is fully committed to the team and that he is willing to put in the work to improve.

"If we don't see that, then we will have to make a decision about his future."

Latifi Admits to Struggles

Latifi has admitted that he struggled to adapt to the new Williams car this season.

"It's been a tough year," Latifi said. "I've struggled to get to grips with the car and I've made too many mistakes.

"I'm still learning and I'm still trying to improve, but I need to see some progress soon."

Options for Latifi

If Latifi is dropped by Williams, he could still have options in Formula 1.

He could join a smaller team such as Haas or Alfa Romeo, or he could move to another series such as Formula E.

Latifi could also take a break from racing and focus on his other interests, such as esports.
