Penn State Football's Coach Franklin Takes Responsibility After Devastating Defeat
A Loss to Rival Ohio State
Penn State Football's Coach James Franklin has taken responsibility for his team's devastating 44-31 defeat to rival Ohio State on Saturday. The loss marks the Nittany Lions' second straight defeat in the series and drops their record to 4-2 on the season.
"I own this one," Franklin said after the game. "I didn't have our team ready to play. We made too many mistakes. We didn't execute.
"We're going to have to learn from this and get better. We have a big game coming up next week against Michigan."
Mistakes and Execution
The Nittany Lions committed several mistakes in the game, including three turnovers and nine penalties. They also struggled to execute on offense, converting just 3 of 13 third-down attempts.
Ohio State took advantage of Penn State's mistakes, scoring 24 points off turnovers. The Buckeyes also had success on the ground, rushing for 252 yards.
Moving Forward
Franklin said that he is confident that Penn State can learn from this defeat and improve moving forward.
"We have a lot of character on this team," Franklin said. "We're going to bounce back from this and be better for it."
The Nittany Lions will have a chance to prove themselves next week when they host Michigan at Beaver Stadium.
