Tennis: Zverev Thrilled To Reclaim World No. 2 Ranking

Alexander Zverev is back on top of the world! The German tennis star reclaimed the No. 2 ranking in the ATP rankings on Monday, after a stellar performance at the Miami Open.

Zverev defeated Jannik Sinner in straight sets in the final, 7-6 (7-3), 6-3, to capture his second Masters 1000 title of the year. The victory also propelled him back into the top spot, which he had last held in June 2021.

Zverev Reacts to Reclaiming World No. 2 Ranking

"It's an incredible feeling to be back at No. 2 in the world," Zverev said. "I've worked really hard for this, and it's a testament to my team and all the people who have supported me."

"It's been a tough few months, but I've never given up on myself," he added. "I knew that if I kept working hard, I could get back to the top."

Zverev's resurgence has been impressive. After a disappointing start to the year, he has won three titles in the past two months, including the Miami Open and the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells.

The German is now one of the favorites for the French Open, which begins on May 22. He has reached the semifinals of the tournament twice before, but he is still looking for his first Grand Slam title.

"I'm confident in my game right now," Zverev said. "I'm playing some of the best tennis of my life, and I'm ready to challenge for the biggest titles."
