Washington Commanders' Jayden Daniels Earns High Praise From Giants Coach
After Saturday's preseason game between the Washington Commanders and New York Giants, Daniels was lauded by Giants head coach Brian Daboll.
Stepped Up to the Occasion
"I thought Jayden played well," Daboll said. "He made a lot of good decisions. He got the ball out of his hands quick...He played with a lot of poise."
Daniels completed 11-of-17 passes for 137 yards, a touchdown, and an interception. He also added 22 rushing yards on four carries.
"He's a good young quarterback," Daboll added. "He's got a lot of potential."
Impressive Growth and Pocket Presence
Others echoed Daboll's praise. Giants defensive coordinator Don Martindale said Daniels "played lights out" and that he was "impressed with his poise."
"He made some good throws," Martindale said. "He made some good decisions."
Commanders head coach Ron Rivera also had positive things to say about Daniels, calling him "a competitor" who "plays with a lot of passion."
"He's a guy that we're excited about," Rivera said. "We think he has a bright future."
Looking Ahead
Daniels' performance against the Giants was a positive sign for the Commanders as they prepare for the regular season. The young quarterback has shown signs of progress throughout the preseason and will look to continue building on his performance in the upcoming weeks.
It remains to be seen how much playing time Daniels will get behind Carson Wentz during the regular season. However, if he continues to play well, he could force Rivera to give him more snaps.
The Commanders will open the regular season on September 11th at home against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
