Bruins Goalie Swayman Shines With Shutout
Jeremy Swayman put up a brilliant performance in the Boston Bruins' 4-0 victory over the Florida Panthers, extending his winning streak to two games. Swayman stopped all 36 shots he faced, including several high-danger chances, to record his first shutout of the 2023-24 season.
Swayman's performance was crucial in helping the Bruins snap a three-game losing streak and improve to 4-3-0 on the season. The 24-year-old netminder has been a bright spot for Boston in the early going, posting a 2.50 goals-against average and a .931 save percentage.
"He was outstanding," Bruins coach Jim Montgomery said of Swayman. "He made some big saves at key moments of the game. He's a young goalie, but he's a goalie we have a lot of confidence in."
Bruins Offense Provides Support
While Swayman was the star of the show, the Bruins' offense also played a key role in the victory. David Pastrnak scored twice, including an empty-netter, and Brad Marchand and Nick Foligno also found the back of the net.
Pastrnak's first goal came on a power play in the first period, and he added his second into an empty net in the final minute of the third. Marchand's goal came off a nice passing play with Patrice Bergeron in the second period, and Foligno scored on a rebound in the third.
The Bruins' offense has been inconsistent this season, but they showed some signs of life against the Panthers. The team finished the game with 36 shots on goal and converted two of their four power-play opportunities.
"I thought we played a really good game tonight," Montgomery said. "We generated a lot of scoring chances and we were able to capitalize on some of them. It was a good all-around effort."
Swayman Continues to Impress
Swayman was acquired by the Bruins in a trade with the Carolina Hurricanes in the offseason, and he has quickly become a fan favorite in Boston. The young goalie has shown a lot of promise in his early starts, and he has the potential to be a long-term solution in net for the Bruins.
"I'm just trying to do my job and help the team win," Swayman said. "I'm happy with the way I've been playing, but I know I can still improve."
The Bruins have a lot of confidence in Swayman, and they believe he has the potential to be a top goalie in the NHL. Swayman's performance against the Panthers was a reminder of his talent, and it has the Bruins excited about the future.
