Carabins Overpower Redbirds 42-3 To Advance To Dunsmore Cup Final
The McGill Carabins secured their spot in the Dunsmore Cup Final after a dominating 42-3 victory over the Saskatchewan Redbirds in the Uteck Bowl on Saturday afternoon.
Dominant Defense
The Carabins defense put on a clinic, holding the Redbirds to just three points and 121 yards of total offense. Linebacker Auguste-Emmanuel Curzi led the way with a game-high 7.5 tackles, while defensive end Thomas Cadotte added 3.5 tackles for a loss.
Offensive Explosion
Offensively, the Carabins were equally impressive, putting up 42 points and 506 yards of total offense. Quarterback Vincent Delaunay was efficient, completing 19 of 24 passes for 288 yards and three touchdowns. Running back Vincent Alarie rushed for 95 yards and a touchdown, while receiver Guillaume Decelles had a game-high 124 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Special Teams Contribution
The Carabins special teams also made a significant contribution. Kicker David Côté converted all six of his extra point attempts, while punter David Chabot averaged 41.3 yards per punt, pinning the Redbirds deep in their own territory on multiple occasions.
Dunsmore Cup Final Berth
With their victory, the Carabins advance to the Dunsmore Cup Final, where they will face the Laval Rouge et Or on November 19th. The Rouge et Or defeated the Western Mustangs 38-10 in the Mitchell Bowl to earn their berth in the final.
The Carabins will be looking to avenge their loss to the Rouge et Or in last year's Dunsmore Cup Final. With a dominant performance in the Uteck Bowl, they have shown that they have the potential to capture the national championship this year.
