Cooper DeJean Lauded By Brian Dawkins For Eagles' Defensive Revival
The NFL legend has been impressed by the rookie cornerback's contributions
Philadelphia Eagles rookie cornerback Cooper DeJean has been earning rave reviews for his performance this season, and one of his biggest fans is none other than NFL legend Brian Dawkins.
Dawkins, who spent 13 seasons with the Eagles and is considered one of the greatest safeties in NFL history, has been impressed by DeJean's playmaking ability and his contributions to the Eagles' defensive revival.
"Cooper DeJean is a special player," Dawkins said. "He has all the tools to be a star in this league. He's got great size, speed, and athleticism. But what really sets him apart is his instincts and his ability to make plays on the ball."
DeJean has started all 10 games for the Eagles this season and has recorded 33 tackles, 3 interceptions, and 10 pass breakups. He has also forced two fumbles.
DeJean's performance has been a major factor in the Eagles' defensive turnaround. After allowing an average of 27.6 points per game last season, the Eagles have allowed just 18.1 points per game this season.
"Cooper DeJean is a big reason for our defensive success this season," said Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni. "He's a playmaker who can change the game at any moment."
DeJean is grateful for the praise he has received from Dawkins and Sirianni, but he knows that he still has a lot of room to grow.
"I'm just trying to get better every day," DeJean said. "I know I have a lot to learn, but I'm willing to put in the work to become the best player I can be."
