Eagles' Hurts Bails Out Sirianni In Chaotic Victory Vs. Jags, Pederson

Hurts and the Eagles escape Jacksonville with 29-21 win

The Philadelphia Eagles escaped Jacksonville with a chaotic 29-21 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, thanks in large part to the heroics of quarterback Jalen Hurts.

Hurts threw for 268 yards and two touchdowns, including a game-winning 22-yard strike to DeVonta Smith with just over two minutes remaining. He also ran for 34 yards and a touchdown, including a crucial 10-yard scamper late in the fourth quarter that set up Smith's game-winning score.

The Eagles' victory was anything but easy. The team committed 10 penalties for 91 yards, including several costly mistakes that kept the Jaguars in the game. The defense also struggled at times, allowing 342 total yards to Jacksonville.

But Hurts was able to bail out his team when it mattered most. His late-game heroics helped the Eagles improve to 2-1 on the season and avoid a disappointing loss to a rebuilding Jaguars team.

Pederson returns to Philadelphia with a loss

The game was also a homecoming for former Eagles head coach Doug Pederson, who is now in his second season with the Jaguars. Pederson led the Eagles to their first Super Bowl victory in 2017, but he was fired after the 2020 season.

Pederson's Jaguars gave the Eagles a scare on Sunday, but they ultimately came up short. The loss dropped the Jaguars to 0-3 on the season.

After the game, Pederson said he was proud of his team's effort, but he acknowledged that there's still a lot of work to do.

"We're still a young team, and we're still learning," Pederson said. "But I'm confident that we'll get there."
