Golden Knights Extend Perfect Home Record with Overtime Victory

The Vegas Golden Knights remain undefeated at home this season, extending their streak to 6-0 after a thrilling overtime victory over the Colorado Avalanche on Friday night.

Dominant Start for Vegas

The Golden Knights came out firing and controlled the pace of play from the opening puck drop. They outshot the Avalanche 13-4 in the first period and generated several high-quality scoring chances. However, Avalanche goalie Darcy Kuemper stood tall and kept the game scoreless.

Colorado Fights Back

The Avalanche came out stronger in the second period and finally broke the deadlock midway through the frame when Nathan MacKinnon buried a power-play goal. Vegas responded quickly with a goal from Jonathan Marchessault, but Colorado regained the lead shortly after with a goal from Devon Toews.

Overtime Decider

The game remained tied 2-2 through the third period and overtime was needed. Just over two minutes into the extra frame, Golden Knights defenseman Shea Theodore received a pass from William Karlsson and blasted a shot past Kuemper to secure the victory.

Theodore's Heroics

Theodore's overtime goal was his second of the game and it gave the Golden Knights their first overtime win of the season. The 27-year-old defenseman has been a key contributor for Vegas this season, scoring 10 points in 16 games.

Strong Defensive Effort

While Theodore's goal was the game-winner, it was Vegas's strong defensive effort that ultimately led to the victory. The Golden Knights blocked 22 shots and only allowed the Avalanche a limited number of Grade-A scoring chances.

Outlook

With the win, the Golden Knights improve to 11-4-1 on the season and remain one of the top teams in the Western Conference. They will look to continue their strong play when they host the Toronto Maple Leafs on Sunday night. The Avalanche, now 10-5-1, will try to regroup when they face the St. Louis Blues on Saturday.
