Renowned Actor Alan Rachins, Star Of 'L.A. Law' And 'Dharma & Greg,' Passes Away At 82

Alan Rachins, a veteran actor known for his roles in the television series "L.A. Law" and "Dharma & Greg," has passed away at the age of 82.

Rachins was born in New York City in 1943 and began his acting career in the theater. He made his Broadway debut in 1967 and went on to appear in a number of stage productions throughout his career.

In the 1980s, Rachins began to work in television and film. He had recurring roles on the soap operas "One Life to Live" and "All My Children" before landing his breakthrough role as Douglas Brackman on "L.A. Law" in 1986.

Rachins played Brackman for eight seasons on "L.A. Law," receiving four Emmy Award nominations for his performance. He also directed several episodes of the show.

After "L.A. Law" ended in 1994, Rachins went on to star in the sitcom "Dharma & Greg" from 1997 to 2002. He played the role of Greg's father, Larry, who was a psychiatrist.

Rachins continued to work in television and film throughout his career, appearing in shows such as "The X-Files," "Frasier," and "How I Met Your Mother." He also had roles in films such as "The Cable Guy" and "The Princess Diaries."

Rachins was married to actress Christine Healy from 1975 until her death in 2016. He is survived by their three children.
