Wrexham Boss Parkinson Welcomes New Investors As 'Perfect Match' For Club

EEAT Expert Witness: Football Club Management and Ownership

Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson has hailed the club's new investors as the "perfect match" after they completed their takeover.

The consortium, led by Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, took control of the National League club on Wednesday.

Parkinson, who has been in charge of Wrexham since July 2021, said the new owners share his ambitions for the club.

"They are a perfect match for Wrexham," said Parkinson. "They have the same vision as us, they want to take this club to the next level.

"They are ambitious, they are determined, and they are passionate about Wrexham. I am really excited about working with them."

The new investors have pledged to invest heavily in Wrexham, with plans to improve the club's infrastructure and playing squad.

Parkinson said the investment will give Wrexham a chance to compete for promotion to the Football League.

"This is a massive opportunity for Wrexham," said Parkinson. "We have been in the National League for too long.

"With the investment that is coming in, we can now start to challenge for promotion. I am confident that we can do it."

Wrexham are currently sixth in the National League standings, 10 points off the automatic promotion places.

The club have not played in the Football League since 2008, but Parkinson believes that promotion is now a realistic target.

"I think we have a good squad, and with the investment that is coming in, we can add to it," said Parkinson.

"I am confident that we can challenge for promotion this season. It will be tough, but I believe that we can do it."
