Tim Kaine Surprises In 'SNL' Sketch With John Mulaney; Sarah Sherman Stars As Margaret Atwood
'SNL': Tim Kaine Crashes John Mulaney's Monologue With Surprise Cameo
Former Virginia governor and U.S. senator Tim Kaine made a surprise appearance on "Saturday Night Live" this weekend, joining John Mulaney during his monologue.
Mulaney was discussing his recent trip to Martha's Vineyard, where he said he saw Kaine.
"I was like, 'Oh, that's Tim Kaine,'" Mulaney said. "And he was like, 'Yeah, it's me, Tim Kaine.'"
Kaine then walked out onto the stage, to the applause of the audience.
"John, it's an honor to be here," Kaine said. "I'm a big fan of the show."
Mulaney and Kaine then joked around for a few minutes, with Mulaney asking Kaine about his time in the Senate and Kaine asking Mulaney about his stand-up comedy.
Kaine's appearance on "SNL" was a surprise, as he is not a regular guest on the show. However, his appearance was well-received by the audience and viewers at home.
'SNL': Sarah Sherman Stars As Margaret Atwood In Sketch About Climate Change
Sarah Sherman starred as Margaret Atwood in a "Saturday Night Live" sketch about climate change.
The sketch opens with Atwood (Sherman) sitting at her desk, writing on a typewriter.
"I've been writing about climate change for decades," Atwood says. "And now, it's finally here."
Atwood then looks up and sees the Earth on fire.
"Oh my God," Atwood says. "It's too late."
The sketch then cuts to a shot of Atwood walking through a devastated landscape.
"We've destroyed our planet," Atwood says. "And now, we're paying the price."
The sketch ends with Atwood sitting at her desk, looking at the Earth on fire.
"I warned you," Atwood says. "But you didn't listen."
Sherman's performance as Atwood was both funny and heartbreaking. She captured Atwood's intelligence and wit, but she also conveyed the sense of urgency and despair that Atwood feels about climate change.
The sketch was a powerful reminder of the importance of taking action on climate change.
