After nearly a year away, U.S. Army Sergeant First Class Shane Woll is finally coming home. His mother, Robin, is anxiously awaiting his arrival, her heart filled with a mix of excitement and nerves.
"I'm so excited to see him," Robin said. "I've missed him so much."
Shane has been deployed to Afghanistan for the past 11 months, and Robin says it's been a long and difficult time for her and her family.
"We've been worried about him every day," Robin said. "But we're so proud of him for serving our country."
Shane is a combat medic, and Robin says he's seen his fair share of action during his deployment. But she says he's always been a strong and courageous man, and she knows he'll be able to handle anything that comes his way.
"He's my hero," Robin said. "I'm so grateful for everything he's done for our country."
Shane is scheduled to arrive home on Friday, and Robin says she's already planning a big celebration.
"We're going to have a barbecue," Robin said. "And I'm going to make his favorite cake."
Robin says she's also looking forward to just spending some quality time with her son.
"We've got a lot of catching up to do," Robin said. "I can't wait to hear all about his experiences."
Emotional Reunion
Robin says she's expecting an emotional reunion when Shane arrives home.
"I'm going to cry," Robin said. "I'm just so happy to have him back home safe and sound."
Robin says she's also looking forward to seeing how Shane has changed during his deployment.
"I know he's going to be the same wonderful person he was before he left," Robin said. "But I'm also expecting to see some changes in him."
Robin says she's proud of the man Shane has become, and she's looking forward to spending the rest of her life with him.
"I'm so lucky to have him as my son," Robin said. "He's my everything."
