Ipswich Denied Maiden Victory By Ayew's Dramatic Late Strike
Ipswich Town's hopes of a first win of the season were dashed at the death as Swansea City snatched a dramatic 2-1 victory at Portman Road.
The Tractor Boys had taken the lead through Sone Aluko's first-half strike, but Andre Ayew's late header condemned them to their third defeat in four league games.
Ipswich started the game brightly and took the lead after just 12 minutes. Aluko latched onto a through ball from Luke Woolfenden and slotted home from close range.
Swansea responded well to going behind and created a number of chances, but they were unable to find an equalizer before the break.
The visitors continued to press after the restart and finally got their reward in the 89th minute. Ayew rose highest to head home Conor Hourihane's cross and earn Swansea a vital three points.
The defeat was a cruel blow for Ipswich, who had worked hard throughout the game and deserved at least a point. However, Paul Cook's men will now have to wait for another week to try and claim their first victory of the season.
