UFC Edmonton: "I Knew My Arm Would Be Raised At The End," Says Brendson

Brendson Takes Victory by Split Decision

In a thrilling lightweight bout at UFC Edmonton, Brendson Rendall emerged victorious over Alex da Silva Coelho by split decision. The judges scored the fight 29-28, 28-29, and 29-28 in favor of Rendall.

Despite facing adversity in the first round, Rendall remained composed.

"I knew I had to stay patient and wait for my opportunity," said Rendall. "I knew my arm would be raised at the end."

Rendall's confidence paid off as he gradually gained control of the fight. He used his superior grappling skills to take down Coelho several times and peppered him with strikes on the ground. As the fight wore on, Rendall's pressure and relentless offense proved too much for Coelho to handle.

"I'm so happy with this win," said Rendall. "I've been working hard for this, and it feels great to be back in the win column."

With this victory, Rendall improves his record to 25-11 and extends his current winning streak to three fights. He now sets his sights on climbing the lightweight rankings and earning a title shot in the near future.

Redemption for Rendall

Rendall's victory at UFC Edmonton is particularly meaningful as it comes after a series of setbacks in his career. In 2021, he suffered two consecutive losses, which many thought could derail his UFC aspirations. However, Rendall never gave up on his dream.

He spent the past year rebuilding his confidence and working on his skills, and his hard work has paid off.

"I'm a different fighter now," said Rendall. "I'm more experienced and I'm more confident in my abilities. I'm ready for anything the lightweight division throws my way."
