Miami Hurricanes Crush Duke Blue Devils 53-31 In Dominant Victory
Canes Dominate on Both Sides of the Ball
The Miami Hurricanes put on a dominant performance Saturday night, crushing the Duke Blue Devils 53-31. The Canes offense was unstoppable, scoring on every possession in the first half, while the defense forced four turnovers and held Duke to just 216 yards of total offense.
Quarterback D'Eriq King led the way for Miami, completing 22 of 28 passes for 325 yards and four touchdowns. Running back Cam'Ron Harris also had a big day, rushing for 128 yards and two touchdowns on just 15 carries.
The Canes defense was just as impressive, forcing four turnovers and holding Duke to just 216 yards of total offense. Linebacker Zach McCloud led the way with two interceptions, while safety Bubba Bolden added an interception and a forced fumble.
Hurricanes Take Early Lead
Miami took an early lead in the game, scoring on their first possession on a 1-yard touchdown run by Harris. The Canes would go on to score on their next four possessions as well, taking a 28-0 lead into the second quarter.
Duke finally got on the board with a 27-yard field goal by Charlie Ham in the second quarter, but Miami answered right back with a 75-yard touchdown pass from King to wide receiver Charleston Rambo.
The Canes would go on to score two more touchdowns in the second quarter, taking a 42-10 lead into the half.
Miami Stays in Control in Second Half
Miami continued to control the game in the second half, scoring on their first two possessions to take a 53-10 lead. Duke would score two late touchdowns, but it was too little, too late.
The Hurricanes' victory was their third in a row and improved their record to 3-1 on the season. Duke fell to 2-2 with the loss.
